New Fluffy Priest Glyph (and Other Inscription Changes)

The latest WotLK beta build gives us a few more inscription changes.  We are still short a small handful of glyphs, so we will be seeing more soon, and as always, these are not guaranteed to be final.

Of the new glyphs we are given in this build, the clear winner is:
Glyph of Levitate: Your Levitate spell no longer requires a reagent.

It’s about time we got our completely-useless-fluffy-cosmetic-glyph.  It serves no purpose save for letting us look cool.  It will likely be a lesser glyph, so don’t worry about it taking the place of something actually useful.

Levitate anytime!  Free up a bag slot!  This glyph is so full of win.

Other changes and additions:

  • Glyph of Fading – Reduce the mana cost of your Fade spell by 50%.
I suppose the aim is to use this in shadow PvP, but this was never a costly spell to begin with. Plus, there are better glyphs out there for PvP.
  • Glyph of Shackle Undead - Increases the range of your Shackle Undead spell by 5 yards.
The range was never the issue on this spell.  Spell hit was, especially for healers.  Why can’t this just increase the hit on the spell?
  • Glyph of Fortitude – Reduce the mana cost of your Power Word: Fortitude and Prayer of Fortitude spells by 5%.
We’re typically casting this out of combat, so mana isn’t really a problem…
  • Glyph of Shadow Protection – Increases the duration of your Shadow Protection and Prayer of Shadow Protection spells by 10 min.
Not significantly useful… There are not any encounter that last longer than the buff.

  3. Yay, levitate!

Actually, I’d use the Glyph of Shadow Protection in Mount Hyjal – on Kaz’rogal and Azgalor, I find myself and our other priest rebuffing Shadow Protection on the 7th or 8th wave of trash. I’d love to have 10 more min. on the spell and not have to spend my mana buffing during the craziness.

So, situationally useful at best currently, but usefullness in Wrath will depend entirely on the encounters.

  4. Prayer of Shadow Protection is a 20 minutes. I can see the Hyjal argument for trash, but Illidan? According to Wow Web Stats only a small handful of guilds are taking longer than 20 minutes to get him down.

Still very situational… I’d rather see the glyph give more resistance.
