Yes Athene's method was an 'exploit'. Weather it was a legal use of game mechanics or other wise. As was said Blizzard has corrected the way XP is awarded in such situations. Thus it was not intended to be used in this particular way, and is technically an 'exploit'.

There have been, and may still be more ways to level fast. However that is outside the intended scope of this article.
Clearly this article is based upon the myth/question.

"You can solo level a character from 1 to 70 in about a day"

The math shows it is just not possible for one person with one pc only using one account to gain 70 lvls in about 24hrs. Even going half as far as this article has. 1-10 is negligible, taking an hour or less. But 10-60, if anyone can grind/quest one lvl every 40 minuets on average then you should write a guide. If it really works, you just may make a killing, as well as prove this myth to be true.

If read thoughly, the math involved is fully understood, and scope is kept in mind, it is a indeed a myth busting article.

Thanks a lot for the interesting and thorough analysis. I enjoyed reading it a lot. I like leveling solo and are always wondering whether I'm doing something totally wrong (apart from being a holy priest) to level so slowly. Hope you will be busting many more myths.

It is totally possible to level 1-70 in a day. I'll explain exactly how to do it here, since the game mechanic used no longer exists.

The ideal group makeup for this technique is Paladin (Prot or Holy, it doesn't matter so long as you're well geared), Mage (Well geared), and the lowbie being powerleveled.

Step 1: The Paladin goes through an instance collecting as many mobs as possible, doing no damage at all--not even using Retribution Aura. The Mage and Lowbie wait at the instance entrance while the Paladin does this.

Step 2: The Paladin uses an appropriate rank of Consecration to damage the entire set of mobs down to about 10%... or 11%... or 8%... around there.

Final Step: The Paladin kicks the Mage from the group, and quickly leaves the instance. The Mage then immediately kills the entire pull using Arcane Explosion(s).

What happens: Since the Paladin damaged the mobs first, the mob is tagged to that party. Therefore, once the mage leaves the party--even though it does damage--it is not awarded any experience. HOWEVER, since the Paladin leaves the instance, and is therefore out of range, the game awards every single bit of experience from the pull to the lowbie---the only person left in the instance who is eligible for the XP.

Before you go myth busting--you should educate yourself about the various powerleveling methods that exist. Minerva didn't "exploit" anything--Athene and co. cleverly used an existing game mechanic to achieve the record.

"Um, like I said: “Game exploits aside, would it be possible to level to 70 in a day /played … by yourself?” That is what all the math pertains to. Not any specific player.

You might want to read a bit better before you tell me to research a bit more. :)

Those who powerleveled never claimed to do it by themselves either, therefor its not a myth they took it so fast. stop cry and l2 power level urself tbh

Athene's friend explains perfectly here.

If you look under "more of IPowerchannel" you'll see why Athene and his crew has intrigued me so much and why I felt the need to rectify something.

Yes they sound like douches to me too Nick. But that's just the belgian accent plus the factor that it's meant to be silly. It's entertainment, show, not real.

If the entire math on this post wasn't directed at any one person, then why were the names of Athene, etc even mentioned? They didn't claim to solo to 70 in that time, which is what your math proves to be extremely infeasible. So why are you even relating the two?

And I vouch Rick's post above. I read the entire suicide blog today - very, very interesting. It is very helpful for many people.

And Nick, you're entitled to your opinion. Telling someone else to stfu for their opinions hardly seems warranted.
